With a built-up area of 20,000sqft, a community centre built over three-hectares of land is all set to open in Ajman, under the aegis of Indian Association Ajman. Named HH Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Auditorium and Sports Complex, the Dh7-million facility in Al Jurf will officially open on July 8.
Founded in 2000 with 50 founding members, Indian Association in Ajman now has a total membership of 700 members. Land for the community centre was gifted by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Ajman, according to diplomats and association members.
The facility will be inaugurated by Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman; Navdeep Singh Suri, Indian Ambassador to India; Vipul, Consul-General of India to Dubai; Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman, Ajman Municipality and Planning Department; and Yusuff Ali MA, chairman and MD Lulu Group International. Members of the association revealed that the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) donated Dh800,000 towards its construction.
